Answers : 1. (a) : Olive oil has 120 calories per tablespoon while butter and margarine clock in at 100 calories per tablespoon.  However, olive oil is still the best choice because it's a heart-healthy fat.  Just be sure to use it sparingly if you're watching your weight.
                 2. (c) : To burn the 550 calories in a typical bagel with cream cheese, a 150 pound woman would have to walk at 3 miles per hour for an hour and 50 minutes! Scoop out the bagel or use a 100 percent whole wheat English muffin instead.  And opt for a thin spread of cream cheese or, better yet, heart-healthy peanut butter.
                 3. (c) : Skipping the glass of wine or bread will save you about 120 calories, but you'll slash far more by trimming the dressing.  Most restaurants add at least 4 tablespoons of dressing to a standard side salad.  With each tablespoon clocking in around 90 calories, you can save 200-300 calories by ordering it on the side and using only 1-2 tablespoons.
                 4. (a) : A typical restaurant portion of prime rib has close to 1,000 calories.  An equal portion of the strip steak will be about 600 calories and the filet mignon clocks in around 500 calories.
                 5. (False) : A cup of brown rice has the same amount of calories as a cup of white rice.  Brown rice is a whole grain, so it's the nutrition and fiber winner --- but, from a purely calorie-saving perspective, there's no weight loss advantage to choosing brown over white.  Watch your portions with either --- 1 cup is about 210 calories.
                 6. (False) : Both skim and whole milk have 12 grams of naturally occurring sugar (lactose) per cup.  The only difference between the two is the fat content (and therefore the calories).  One cup of whole milk clocks in at 150 calories and skim milk provides 80 calories.
