IN HONOR OF NATIONAL DOG DAY AUGUST 26

  • Thirteenth Century emperor, Kublai Khan, grandson of Genghis Khan, owned a record number five thousand mastiffs.
  • The St. Bernard is the heaviest breed of dog, followed by the English Mastiff, Great Dane, Irish Wolfhound, Tibetan Mastiff and the Newfoundland.
  • The average dog has 42 permanent teeth.
  • Poodle, fancy ?  In England, poodles were originally bred to hunt ducks and geese in muddy swamps.
