A new driver's tips for surviving the exam

Recently, I finally accomplished what most teenagers aim to conquer:  the dreaded driving exam.
I was scared, nervous and excited at the same time.  But I survived!
For those proud owners of learner's permits, here are some tips (that I know work) to help you pass your exam.

1. Start small
Don't immediately start driving on busy roads.  Start with something simple, like driving in circles in the school parking lot on a Saturday afternoon, or practice at that part of the mall parking lot that is always abandoned.
2. Don't be afraid to go on real roads
I was terrified the first time I drove anywhere that was not the school parking lot.  But once I got used to the added traffic, it became real on-road experience that is usefull to all new drivers.
3. Hire a driving teacher
They are awesome and know all the tips and tricks to passing.  They know what the examiners are looking for and can tell you.  If you ask them, they can even take you to the test site to practice the actual course.  Ask them to go anywhere, and they will have you drive there.  I've driven on everything from back roads to Roosevelt Boulevard in Philadelphia with my teacher.  Plus, they will teach you to parallel park!
4. Choose the right testing site
Some of them are more strict than others.  Ask friends who have their licenses where they took their test.  They can give you advice on the best places to test.
5. Relax
When you get to the test, it will be nerve-wracking, the examiners will be scary, but you will be fine.
If you practice and are prepared, you will walk away with a shiny new license

                              Good Luck!.
